Development and fitness of measurement model of health-related quality of life of the elderly visiting Jahandidegan Institute in Tehran

Abstract

Background and AimIn studies of health sciences, a main challenge is measuring outcome variables such as health status and the quality of life. Hence, this paper aims to develop and study the fitness of the measurement model of Elderly Health-Related Quality of Life Scale. Materials and MethodsThis explorative study was conducted on the basis of data from the study for developing a measurement instrument for health-related quality of life of the elderly visiting Jahandidegan Institute in Tehran. The structural equation modeling with maximum likelihood method is used in LISREL statistical software for extracting the measurement model. Then, the model was evaluated based on the model fitness indexes. ResultsThe results showed that there is a linear model for explaining relations among 6 factors of Elderly Health-Related Quality of Life Scale. The relations were significant among factors and between factors and items of Elderly Health-Related Quality of Life Scale. Model fitness indexes of the model were confirmed based on fitness indexes of measurement models. ConclusionTherefore, Elderly Health-Related Quality of Life Scale is a valid instrument for measuring health-related quality of life of elderly people based on a well-fitted measurement model.

زمینه و هدف: از چالشهای اساسی در مطالعات علوم سلامت، اندازه‌گیری متغیرهایی از قبیل سلامتی و کیفیت‌زندگی است. به همین جهت هدف از این مطالعه ارائه و بررسی برازندگی مدل اندازه‌گیری کیفیت‌زندگی مرتبط با سلامتی سالمندان می‌باشد. روش بررسی: مطالعه حاضر یک بررسی اکتشافی است که با استفاده از داده‌های مطالعه طراحی ابزار اندازه‌گیری کیفیت‌زندگی مرتبط با سلامت سالمندانی که به کانون جهان‌دیدگان شهر تهران مراجعه کرده‌اند، صورت پذیرفته است. سپس از روش مدل معادله ساختاریابی با روش حداکثر درستنمایی با استفاده از نرم‌افزار آماری LISREL برای استخراج مدل اندازه‌گیری استفاده شده است. مدل استخراج شده بر اساس شاخصهای برازش مدل مورد بررسی قرار گرفت. یافته‌ها: نتایج نشان داد که مدلی خطی برای تبیین ارتباط شش عامل ابزار اندازه‌گیری کیفیت‌زندگی مرتبط با سلامت سالمندان وجود دارد. از نظر آماری ارتباط معناداری بین هر متغیر با عامل مربوطه و بین عوامل با همدیگر تایید گردید. شاخصهای برازندگی نیز برازش مدل را بر اساس معیارهای برازش مدل های اندازه‌گیری مورد تایید قرار داد. نتیجه‌گیری: بنابراین ابزار اندازه‌گیری کیفیت زندگی مرتبط با سلامت سالمندان، ابزار مناسبی برای اندازه‌گیری کیفیت زندگی مرتبط با سلامت سالمندان در قالب یک مدل اندازه‌گیری ب رازش یافته می‌باشد.
